Low-carbonization on a City Scale

NSRI conducted a feasibility study toward the building of a low-carbon central business district that will be the first of its kind in the world. Proposing low-carbon approaches in all manner of fields involved in creating a city—urban structure, building energy conservation, local energy, untapped and recyclable energy, AEMS (area energy management systems), heat-island mitigation, landscaping, waste disposal, water supply, transport, and so on—the project presents detailed analysis of the effect of introducing each approach. The plan confirms the feasibility of a 30 % reduction in CO2 by 2020 by comparison to the 2010 level (BAU) and of 50 % by 2030.
