Osaki Station West Exit Area, Tokyo
Mitigation of Urban Heat Island Effect (Microclimate Plan with Thermal Environment Simulation)
Summary
-
The Osaki Station West Exit area within central Tokyo, once a center of small factories and workshops, has recently been experiencing significant changes in land use.
As part of efforts in support of area management, NSRI conducted a feasibility study based on a heat environment plan and simulations aimed at creating breeze corridors in the city. The project studied how multiple districts could collaborate to create an “environment-friendly zone” to alleviate the heat island effect in Tokyo.
