Survey and examination of measures to promote the use of under-utilized or unused land through methods for urban development in partnership between the public and private sectors

Summary

Project description
Based on the actual state of “spongy cities” throughout Japan, NSRI is examining methods to promote urban development with systems to encourage the use of under-utilized and unused land through public-private partnerships and aims to disseminate information on methods to promote this style of urban development.
In order to accomplish this, NSRI is conducting demonstration projects on the use of under-utilized and unused land, verifying effects, and producing leaflets to raise awareness on the use of this type of land.
Technical features
In order to create comfortable and livable cities, NSRI verified the effects of improving cityscape environments and creating vitality with the implementation of a demonstration project on kitchen car businesses and creating retention spaces using sections of an hourly parking lot. NSRI also developed a leaflet to illustrate the image of urban development using under-utilized or unused land based on suggestions from real estate owners.
