Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism / City activity monitoring and other technology implementation services using 3D city models

Summary

Project description
In this project, infrared sensors were installed inside Queen's Square Yokohama, a multi-level, mixed-use facility that also contains the underground Minato Mirai subway station and aboveground floors, and by combining the analyzed data, we verified the visualization of people flow and crowding by time period and location. The people flow data was also provided as open data on the 3D city model platform of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Anticipations are held that this data will be used in the future for purposes such as evacuation guidance in the event of a disaster, facility maintenance and management, and marketing for businesses.
Technical features
  • Measurement of people flow through a combination of multiple sensors (measuring number of people by direction of movement, detecting paths of movement and number of people remaining in designated areas).
  • Analysis and visualization of people flow data (3D model display, 2D arrow model display, crowd display).
  • Support superimposition of people flow data on 3D city models.
