Area management

In the mature cities of Japan, it is important to determine how to make effective use of the stock of buildings, cities and communities that were developed during the country’s period of growth. In addition, in these times when competition is intensifying between cities and regions in both Japan and overseas, sustainable urban planning that enhances value is essential. An effective method to achieve this is the introduction of area management, in which a variety of actors such as local residents, community groups, the government, and private companies participate and collaborate together to revitalize the region and enhance value.

NSRI presents proposals and consulting services relating to area management design and planning, such as the development of organizations, funding, and project designs that are in line with the features of each respective area. NSRI also participates in the development of plans ranging from the initial stages of urban development to area management after construction and provides services to support the planning, preparation and implementation of businesses for area management activities, such as the maintenance, management and use of facilities and public spaces.
