Next generation mobility hub demonstration

Summary

Project description
Commissioned by Nissan Motor Corporation, the aim of this project is to conceptualize and verify what kind of urban space would be ideal for the age of next-generation mobility (automated driving and MaaS). The percentage of people leaving their homes for outings is currently declining. To address the challenge of stimulating people to go out and move, we came up with the concept of a "mobility hub,” which serves as a base for the provision of information and mobility services. Along with undertaking the spatial and behavioral design of this hub, we implemented a demonstration test using space under elevated railroad tracks.
Technical features
  • Service design integrating MaaS and urban space design
  • Space design that can accommodate a diversity of activities
  • Behavioral design to stimulate demand for mobility
  • Analysis of changes in mobility patterns based on the demonstration test
